DICKSON’S COMMITTEE ACHIEVES MAJOR BREAK THROUGH, AS AGGRIEVED MEMBERS WITHDRAW SUIT STOPPING PARTY CONVENTION

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Reconciliation Committee chaired by Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State has started yielding positive results. This follows the decision of some of its members (plaintifs) to discontinue the suit seeking to stop the forthcoming PDP national convention.

The decision to discontinue the case with Suit No. CV/2418/13, which was brought before a Federal Capital Territory High Court in Apo, Abuja headed by Justice Suleiman Belgore by three aggrieved PDP members- Abba K . Yale, Yahaya A. Sule  and Bashir Maidugu, is seen as a major break through by the Governor Dickson led Committee.

Counsel to the plaintiffs, FN Nwosu filed an application yesterday withdrawing the matter paving the way for Dickson’s committee to amicably address their grievances, since his clients had requested for the discountinuance of the matter.

In his submission before the court, Barr. Nwosu stated that, the most logical thing to do was to strike out the suit as well as save the PDP from unnecessary delays in the conduct of its National convention. Justice Belgore however, adjourned hearing on the suit to to September.

In a joint press statement signed by the plaintiffs, they pledged to support and cooperate with the committee and all other agencies of the PDP in order to have a hitch-free national convention of the party.

They also praised Governor Dickson for brokering peace amongst aggrieved members of the party and urged all party faithfuls that had ditched the party to take advantage of the window provided by the Dickson led committee to reappraise their stance in the interest of the party.

Even though the case has been adjourned to September 23, political analysts have described the move persuading aggrieved party members to drop their suit as a commendable feat by the Reconciliation Committe to reposition the PDP.

Meanwhile, the Committe has expressed appreciation to members for their understanding, noting that, they have by their actions demonstrated that, they are true and committed party faithfuls.While.

Renewing his call on other aggrieved members of the PDP to sheathe their swords by embracing the peace efforts of the committee, Hon. Dickson assured party faithfuls of his committee’s preparedness to amicably resolve every individual and collective differences and ensure the smooth delivery of the dividends of democracy to Nigerians.
