GOVERNOR DICKSON SUES FOR PEACE, MUTUAL UNDERSTANDING AMONG BAYELSANS

Activities marking the maiden Bayelsa State Thanksgiving Day were brought to a close with a gospel musical concert at the Gloryland cultural centre, Yenagoa.
At the occasion, Governor Seriake Dickson called on Bayelsans to pray for their leaders to always imbibe the culture of rendering selfless service to the state and country.

He reiterated the need for the people to live peacefully among each other and be dedicated to the service of God and mankind.
The Governor expressed appreciation to the church, elder statesmen and opinion leaders as well as all Bayelsans generally for partaking in the programme stating that he was looking forward to celebrating future Thanksgiving Day programmes.

He also commended the various gospel artistes and choir groups that performed at the occasion, noting that Bayelsa is the first state in the country to legally institutionalize a Thanksgiving Day.

Hon. Dickson used the opportunity to confer the Ijaw name of” Abadiere” on American gospel singer/preacher Dr. Juanita Bynum, who thrilled the mammoth crowd with a flawless rendition of gospel songs and praises.
Other gospel artistes who performed on the night were Asu Ekiye, Buchi, Bannerman Embiowei and Delta born Ijaw gospel artiste Freeman Benedict.
Governor Seriake Dickson also read a lesson from the book of Colossians 3: 12-17 at the occasion.
